I have 2 children of my own girl 09/02/05 at uni and boy 18/11/07 who attend Garth hill college. I have been a childminder for over 19 years and I was a nanny for 8 years prior to having my own children. I have also worked in day nurseries. I have a wealth of experience with lots of different ages of children. I accept tax free childcare payments and also from April 2024 I will be accepting qualifying funded children . My prime aim is for the children in my care to be happy and safe and feel that my home is their home. I have a large garden, take the children to the local toddler group and soft play,and also socialise with other minders. My hours are 7:30am -5.30pm. I am NVQ3 qualified and I also hold a current paediatric first aid certificate, health & hygiene certificate and targeted safeguarding I have also recently acquired level 2 in understanding children & young persons mental health. I am a childminder based in Priestwood, I have 4 areas in my house i use for minding including the garden. I have steps going into and outside of all my doors to the outside areas.I am open Monday- Thursday 7:30am-5:30pm.
- 1: How does the setting identify children with additional needs or SEND?
I discuss with parents before starting where they think their child is in development so i have a starting point for my learning journals, I complete 2 year checks, I regularily discuss with parents their childs progress. I gain permission to share information with other settings, I complete observations on the child to determine what their next steps may be and discuss them with the parents.
- 2: How will I be informed / consulted about the ways in which my child is being supported?
I use WhatsApp or text message for all children. I have all about me paperwork which i ask the parents to fill in before the child starts.Parents are free to look at their child's learning journey at any time. I discuss with parents at pick up time planning and their childs progress and this is also when they feedback to me.
- 3: How will the setting adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for my child's needs?
I plan activities to help next steps, and activities are adapted to meet the needs and abilities of all the children.
- 4: What teaching strategies does the setting use for children with additional needs or learning difficulties?
At present i don't have experience in caring for children with special needs, but each child is treated as an individual and activities are adapted to meet the needs of all the childern. I do care for children with english as a second language.
- 5: What additional support does the setting provide for children with additional needs or SEND?
I have a SEND policy and risk assess
- 6: How will the setting monitor my child's progress and how will I be involved in this?
Discussion with parents happens on a regular basis, I complete 2 year checks and also complete learning journeys
- 7: How do you ensure children with additional needs or SEND can be included in the same activities as other children, including trips?
I risk assess outings & if needed to i would pre visit places to ensure suitability and risk assess
- 8: How accessible is the building for children with mobility difficulties / wheelchair users?
I dont have ramps, wide door ways or a down stairs toilet that could accommodate a wheel chair
- 9: How will you support my child's transition to a new setting or school?
I would be willing to share infromation/ learning journeys with other setting if they wanted to see them. I have a selection of books that the childern have access to about new places.
- 10: How does the setting assess the overall effectiveness of its SEN provision and how can parents / carers take part in this evaluation?
I ask parents to complete a questionnaire yearly, but we constantly feedback to each other, they also make coments on the 2 year check
- 11: Who should I contact if I am considering registering for a place at the setting?

- 12: What arrangements does the setting have for feedback from parents / carers, including compliments and complaints?
I have a complaints book, and compliments are recoreded in my file, i have a parents poster, parents complete quesionnaires yearly. Parent usually feed back via WhatsApp or verbally at the end of the day. I have references from past parents, thank you cards and letters.
