Sandy Lane Primary School has published their Local Offer providing information on Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Sandy Lane is a much larger than average-sized primary school with attached nursery located in Bracknell. The proportion of pupils with special educational needs who are supported through school action is slightly above the national average. The proportion of pupils who are supported through school action plus or have a statement of special educational needs is broadly in line with the national average. The proportion of pupils for whom the school receives the pupil premium (additional government funding for those eligible for free school meals, looked after children and children from service families) is lower than the national average. SCHOOL ETHOS Sandy Lane Primary School aims to provide all children with challenging learning opportunities throughout their foundation and primary years. All staff work hard to achieve the highest possible standards within an inclusive school setting. We value the strong and close relationship we have with parents and work in partnership to enhance each child’s learning. We recognise that all children will begin their early school journey from different starting points, but the goal remains the same, to develop each child’s individual potential and celebrate their success. It is our firm belief that children learn best with the support and interest of all the adults within the school. For this reason we aim to place trained teaching assistants within the classes to support the teachers’ work and the children’s learning. All children have different talents, interests and abilities. At Sandy Lane we recognise these differences by providing a wide range of opportunities both within the classroom and through extra-curricular clubs. These include residential visits to Lakeside in Cumbria, art, dance and choir activities and representing the school in competitive sporting fixtures. Our aim is that Sandy Lane Primary School will be a thriving, educational community where all children will enjoy learning, act responsibly towards adults and one another, be challenged by their teachers and achieve success.
