Bracknell Forest achieved 'Working to Become Dementia Friendly' status in November 2013.
The Bracknell Forest Dementia Action Alliance (DAA) was established in October 2014.
The aim of the DAA is to bring together local organisations that are passionate and committed to making a difference in their local community for people living with dementia and their carers.
The Bracknell Forest DAA members work with local people with dementia and their carers, to facilitate an improved understanding and awareness of dementia. This will help to ensure that people with dementia and their carers feel welcome and safe when using their local community facilities, and enable them to live well and independently at home for as long as possible.
The DAA steering group meet bi monthly together with local people with dementia and their carers and focus on implementing innovative projects in the community to help support local people with a diagnosis of dementia.
Bracknell Forest's DAA was awarded the 2017 Social Care Award for 'Best Dementia Support and Research UK' by GHP Pharma Magazine.
