Uplands Primary School and Nursery: Nursery Class

Does this information need updating?

Uplands Nursery

Uplands Nursery is a provision in central Sandhurst. We offer flexible provision for children between 8:45 and 3:30pm. Children are eligible to start nursery in the term after their third birthday and we currently have vacancies for most sessions. Government Funded Early Years Provision is available for 15 hours per week or Extended Government Funded Early Years Provision for an additional 15 hours per week. The Nursery Class opened on 8th September 2014.

Uplands Primary School extended our Early Years provision to include a nursery in September 2014.  This as an excellent opportunity to enable children to commence their education in close association with a highly successful school from the age of 3. We are now known as Uplands Primary School and Nursery.

We understand that deciding on Nursery provision for your child is a challenging task for many parents, and many factors need to be taken into consideration. We aim to provide the best possible start to each and every child's educational career: promoting independence and confidence; monitoring and developing key personal and academic skills; celebrating and modelling core values and nurturing a love of learning.  The skills and values  that we will promote will prepare every child for transition into Primary School.

The nursery is led by a fully qualified teacher and a nursery nurse, and supported by early year practitioners. We offer flexible provision, comprising sessions in either the morning or the afternoon as well as lunchtime sessions.  Every three year old is entitled to a maximum of 15 hours of government funded provision, though parents may request additional sessions and pay a fee for the time over and above the funded hours.  Session times are as follows:
Morning:              8:45 - 11:45
Lunchtime:          11:45 - 12:30
Afternoon:           12:30 - 3:30

Uplands Primary School is a single form entry school, serving Sandhurst and the surrounding area. It caters for boys and girls aged 4 to 11 years old.  Our mission is to encourage, motivate and challenge all our pupils to achieve their full potential within a secure and caring learning environment.

We aim to help pupils feel empathy for others and show respect for all, whilst developing as honest, polite, well rounded , creative, confident and happy citizens, who have a life-long love of learning.

We believe that children’s learning is greatly enhanced by the strong partnership and close relationship we have with parents.

Our vision is for our children to be inspired to achieve.

The vast majority of pupils are from wards where social deprivation is well below average; most pupils being of White British origin, a small number coming from minority ethnic groups with very few having English as an additional language. The number of pupils eligible for free school meals is well below average as is the proportion of special educational needs pupils supported by school action; the number of school action plus and statemented pupils is below national average.
