Pomroy, Anita

Married with 4 great children; 2boys, 2 girls. I have been a registered childcare provider since 2000 last inspection 2017, rated Outstanding.  I love my job as I get to explore the lovely area in which I live by taking the children to fabulous parks, on woodland walks, meeting with other minders, going on picnics and to toddler groups. We enjoy crafts, getting messy, baking, learning about different foods, celebrating Chinese New Year, Easter, Diwali, St Patricks day and more.

I strongly believe children learn so much through play and just being themselves.  I facilitate lots of child led activities (in line with the EYFS) whilst always having lots of fun. Meals provided on request.

Local Offer Description

We are a family of 6 currently and a little french bull dog 10 weeks old my  2 daughters live at home 18 and 9 years. We offer a home from home setting with a large outdoor space a designated play area for children and live surrounded by woodlands for our walks. A lovely park is less than a 2 minute walk.

1: How does the setting identify children with additional needs or SEND?

I record activities and experiences throughout the day, I send pictures  along with special moments on wassap.  I use the tracker book for each child and highlight where they are at along with observation sheets, I talk with parents on pick up and invite them in, I send profiles home.I have in each child's file an 'All about me' this tells me the child's likes /dislikes to starting my setting.

2: How will I be informed / consulted about the ways in which my child is being supported?

I speak daily with parents and have a trustful relationship with them to which I find very important when caring for their child/ren.I also send home a parents questionare.

3: How will the setting adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for my child's needs?

Keeping within the EYFS observing the areas of learning and identify where to move forward with child,I am lucky to have our local authority early years team at hand if I feel I need guidance.

4: What teaching strategies does the setting use for children with additional needs or learning difficulties?

Sensory play, picture cards, communicating and language all children are treated as individuals and I can adapt to different levels of learning where needed. I have Been childminding since 2000 so have seen many children with different types of additional needs.

5: What additional support does the setting provide for children with additional needs or SEND?

I have attended various courses to help my understanding of children with special needs, always looking for advice as my own child as additional needs. I have policy's in place and adding more.

6: How will the setting monitor my child's progress and how will I be involved in this?

I have sharing information forms so all professionals involved can work with each other to best interest of the child which is very important, I welcome feedback from parents and suggestions they may have.

7: How do you ensure children with additional needs or SEND can be included in the same activities as other children, including trips?

I risk assess the outings and places beforehand if not been there before, if travelling by car I make sure appropriate car seats are in place along side a first aid bag, strollers, wrist harness snacks and drinks, a change of clothes for each child where needed, emergency  contact numbers and a plan incase of emergency.

8: How accessible is the building for children with mobility difficulties / wheelchair users?

We have a large open planned area where access to garden patio is level with area used.

9: How will you support my child's transition to a new setting or school?

Meeting will take place with parent to discuss any worries or concerns along with a transition form if needed,  I always invite parent and child/ren to come back and visit to share their onward journey and offer to visit their new setting it never has to be the end once they leave me.

10: How does the setting assess the overall effectiveness of its SEN provision and how can parents / carers take part in this evaluation?

I introduced parent questionnaires this helps me understand what children and parents wanted more of and any thing less of, my interest is the child's wellbeing in and out of my setting and working in partnership with all professionals involved.

11: Who should I contact if I am considering registering for a place at the setting?

Please feel free to contact Mrs Anita Pomroy or email alternative my mobile number is 07958763078.

12: What arrangements does the setting have for feedback from parents / carers, including compliments and complaints?

I have letters from parents and a complaints book.
