Local Offer Description

I have an annexe used solely for childcare which is all on ground level and has an enclosed adjoining garden for free flow and outdoor play. There is one very low step at the entrance to the building.

My opening hours are 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday all year round.

1: How does the setting identify children with additional needs or SEND?

I have daily discussions with parents/carers when possible and also make written observations that are shared with parents through daily diaries.

Meetings are had with all parents/carers and their children before starting with me to identify a starting point for the child's learning journey. I have a policy in place to enable permission to share information with other settings and professionals involved with the child.

Progress is shared with parents through regular discussion and also on the child's learning child and progress tracker which I use and parents/carers are able to view these through a secure confidential online system called Baby's Days.

Planning is based on each child's needs and interests to help children progress and achieve their next steps. Parents and other professionals contributions are welcomed.

2: How will I be informed / consulted about the ways in which my child is being supported?

I have very good relationships with all the parents of the children in my care and we share information daily through discussion at drop off and collection as well as through text messaging, email and daily diaries on Baby's Days secure online system which parents are given a confidential login to access information about their child's progress and development.

Parents are asked to fill in an 'all about me' questionnaire' before their child comes for any settling in sessions to help me understand about the child's usual requirements and needs to make settling in as smooth as possible.

Information such as learning journals, progress, achievements and planning is shared with parents and a yearly report will be completed.

I send out feedback questionnaires every term to gain information to help improve my service.

3: How will the setting adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for my child's needs?

Most of my planning is child led based on the child's interests and hobbies to promote development.

Children are set small targets to help them to achieve their next steps for development. One to one support is offered when possible and all activities are adjusted accordingly to allow each child to participate.

4: What teaching strategies does the setting use for children with additional needs or learning difficulties?

Each child is treated as an individual and activities are adapted to allow each child to participate.

5: What additional support does the setting provide for children with additional needs or SEND?

I have risk assessments in place and a SEND policy.

6: How will the setting monitor my child's progress and how will I be involved in this?

Progress is regularly discussed with parents and if necessary with other professionals and settings involved in the child's care.

I complete my own 2 year check and share this with parents.

I use a progress tracker on Baby's Days which parents have access to.

7: How do you ensure children with additional needs or SEND can be included in the same activities as other children, including trips?

I am aware of the equality act and outings are risk assessed and would be assessed in advance to ensure they are suitable for all the children.

8: How accessible is the building for children with mobility difficulties / wheelchair users?

My setting is all ground floor level with just a very low step at the entrance.

9: How will you support my child's transition to a new setting or school?

I offer transition support and learning journals are available to print and pass on and share with another setting or school.

I have books to help with transitions as well as offer group activities to familiarize children with transitions to help the children overcome any anxieties.

10: How does the setting assess the overall effectiveness of its SEN provision and how can parents / carers take part in this evaluation?

I regularly ask for feedback from parents and the children to help with future planning to enable children to progress.

11: Who should I contact if I am considering registering for a place at the setting?

If considering registering your child with me, my details are available from Bracknell Forest Family Information Service or you can call me on 07717 409434 or email on to check my availability and arrange a visit.

12: What arrangements does the setting have for feedback from parents / carers, including compliments and complaints?

The parents are regularly asked for their feedback and for any suggestions. I have a compliments/complaints book in my setting. I display the Parents Ofsted poster to inform parents of who to contact regarding any concerns.
