Local Offer

Local Offer Description

My setting is a homebased Childminder location in sandhurst. I am registered to care for 6 under 8 under the Early Years guidelines.

1: How does the setting identify children with additional needs or SEND?

Initially by consultation with parents to establish any needs that may already be present and/or previously identified.

Any needs that haven't been indentified would be picked up from observations following the Early Years guidelines as well as discussions with other settings that the child may attend.

2: How will I be informed / consulted about the ways in which my child is being supported?

I use Baby's days to record daily diaries and observations as well as planning tools and next steps to help communicate what your child might need going forwards.

The system is continuously updated and accessible for you to view and you would be able to add details on here for me to see also.

I provide progress reports and have an open door policy should you have any queries or concerns.

3: How will the setting adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for my child's needs?

4: What teaching strategies does the setting use for children with additional needs or learning difficulties?

I currently have no experience with children who need additional support, however I would be willing to attend training courses in order to help me in the future.

5: What additional support does the setting provide for children with additional needs or SEND?

6: How will the setting monitor my child's progress and how will I be involved in this?

As above, Baby's days holds all this information.

7: How do you ensure children with additional needs or SEND can be included in the same activities as other children, including trips?

8: How accessible is the building for children with mobility difficulties / wheelchair users?

My setting is not accessible for children requiring help with mobility. There are 13 concrete steps leading to my front door and I would strongly advise considering another setting.

9: How will you support my child's transition to a new setting or school?

By arranging meetings and settling in with the school as well as providing a detailed report of my observations up to this point.

10: How does the setting assess the overall effectiveness of its SEN provision and how can parents / carers take part in this evaluation?

N/A at present.

11: Who should I contact if I am considering registering for a place at the setting?

Rachel McGowan

12: What arrangements does the setting have for feedback from parents / carers, including compliments and complaints?

As above, Baby's days holds all this information.
