Local Offer Description

I have a two storey three bedroom terraced house.  The drive outside can be used for parking and there is parking across from my house.  There is one step to my front door and a very low step down into the playroom.  The rest of the ground floor is level. I use the playroom, lounge, kitchen, hall and downstairs toilet for the children that I provide childcare for.  I can also use two of the bedrooms upstairs for sleeping if required.  I have a back garden which can be accessed from the kitchen diner and lounge.  There is a step down from these areas into the garden.  The garden is on three levels.  The two lower levels are paved and the top level is decking.  There are three steps between the lower level and second level.

I am open Monday to Friday 8.00am-6.00pm

I live in a residential area.  There are bus stops, shops, library and schools closeb.

1: How does the setting identify children with additional needs or SEND?

I use the EYFS to track each child's learning and development.  Observations are carried out for each child, which detail what the child did, characteristics of learning and links to the EYFS.  Each child has a learning and development file and a learning journey.  Each child also have their 'next steps' displayed in the playroom

I carry out three monthly progress reviews and two year old checks.

I communicate with parents daily which is verbally and via the child's daily diary and we have discussions regarding the three monthly progress reviews.

I meet with parents before a child starts with me and parents are given an 'All About Me' form to complete to provide as much information as they can about their child which I use as a starting point for the learning and development files.

I have permission from all parents to share information with other professionals

Progress is shared daily with parents by verbal communication and through the daily diary.  Parents also get a copy of all progress reviews, together with next steps and have access to their child's learning and development files.  This information is also available for other professionals.  I also have a sharing information form and sharing topics form for nurseries and pre-schools.

Next steps are highlighted through observations and weekly checks of each child's EYFS learning and development files.

I have a weekly planner displayed in the playroom.  I also do a monthly newsletter where parents are informed of what activities we have done.  Next steps and suggested activities are given/communicated to parents regularly.

2: How will I be informed / consulted about the ways in which my child is being supported?

I have a good relationship with all parents of children I provide childcare for.  It is important to me to always build good relationships with parents which benefit all.

I use daily diaries, email, texts, monthly newsletters to also communicate with parents.

I use 'All about me' paperwork to get to know a new child.

Learning journeys are available to parents view at my setting or to take away to share with families over a weekend or holiday.

I communicate daily with parents about progress and also discuss progress reviews.

My weekly planner is displayed on the playroom wall and I disucss activities and plans with parents regularly.

Parents feedback information about progress verbally, through the daily diary, on the progress reviews, feedback form from monthly newsletter and questionnaires.

I share information with other professionals where necessary and to reflect and improve my childcare setting.

I send out a monthly newsletter which gives useful information, information about what we did that month and how it links to the EYFS, photographs and a feedback form

I currently have a care plan for a child with a medical condition which I created with parents and checked with other professionals.

3: How will the setting adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for my child's needs?

I plan activities using children's next steps.

I also plan activities so that children can mix with children outside of the setting.

I ask parents about special events they may be celebrating as a family so that I can carry this on at my setting.

I link activities to nursery topics

I also plan play activities for children which links to next steps and their own EYFS development and learning files

I like to set children small targets throughout the day, which can be through a activity, play, tidying up, outings, etc.

I offer 1-1 support for children as well as having group activities, play, etc. and activities are adapted to incorporate each child level of learning and development and needs

I have contacts within the Early Years Team for my Borough Council, I attend Provider Meetings and am also a Network Childminder which also involves support visits

I use the EYFS daily within my setting and for recording learning and development, setting next steps and planning.

4: What teaching strategies does the setting use for children with additional needs or learning difficulties?

I have not yet cared for a child with additonal needs

Every child is individual and have different levels of learning and development which are recognised and activities adapted where needed

I have dual language books and parents help with words that a child is learning/using.  I also have a Spanish dictionary and learning CD.  I am willing to source other aids as required.

My first point of contact for help with children with additonal needs, resources and specialist equipment would be through the Early Years Team at my Borough Council who can then provide me with contact details of other professionals required.

I have completed a training course on Autism but am always willing to train on other areas as and when required

5: What additional support does the setting provide for children with additional needs or SEND?

My first point of contact for help with children with additonal needs, resources and specialist equipment would be through the Early Years Team at my Borough Council who can then provide me with contact details of other professionals required

I am willing to attend any training courses required for a child with addtional needs or SEND

I use risk assessments in my setting.  I have a risk assessment for a child already in my setting and can create new risk assessments as and when required.

I have a SEND policy

I will obtain inclusive resources required as necessary if it is something needed that I do not yet have.

6: How will the setting monitor my child's progress and how will I be involved in this?

I discuss progress with parents daily.

I share information with other profressionals as and when required.

I have visits from other professionals when requested.  I do not meet with parents and communication with parents is daily.  However, I would be happy to meet with parents if myself or parents felt more time was needed.

I monitor children's progress through individual learning and development files using the EYFS, observations, next steps, planning three monthly progress reviews and two year old checks.

Activities are planned around next steps, individual needs, topcis, special events

7: How do you ensure children with additional needs or SEND can be included in the same activities as other children, including trips?

I am aware of the equality act and have policies relating to this.

I have risk assessments for outings regularly visited such as toddler groups, indoor play, etc.

I have a blank risk assessment to use when on a new outing if I have not already risk assessed it using internet information or information from other professionals

I would pre-visit an outing if required.

I always stay within my ratio  numbers

8: How accessible is the building for children with mobility difficulties / wheelchair users?

I can obtain a ramp for steps if neccessary, my ground floor is mainly level and I have a small downstairs toilet and washing facilities.

Outside space is accessible and a ramp would be used for wheelchair accessibility and there is enough space both outside and inside the setting suitable for children with mobility difficulties.

I can make reasonable adjustments where necessary.

9: How will you support my child's transition to a new setting or school?

I offer transition visits and settling in visits.

I complete transition forms for children moving to new settings or attending nursery/preschool and I support this with information on learning and development and can also pass on any other paperwork required.

I visit the library for books on new places, such as going to school which I share with the children.

I do not have any photographs of other settings, but can request these if required or use the internet for nurseries and pre-schools.

I am willing to share 'All about me Information'

I am happy to work with the child, parents, family, other professionals and to attend any training courses to help a child over anxieties

I have liaised with other professionals in the past and will continue to do so where needed

10: How does the setting assess the overall effectiveness of its SEN provision and how can parents / carers take part in this evaluation?

Parents feedback to me verbally, through my comments/complaints book, through children's daily diaries, by using the feedback form on my monthly newsletter, through progress reviews and questionnaires.

As a Network childminder I have contact with the Early Years Team regularly and also have support visits from them which includes a report being written up about the visit they have done and any actions I need to take

I reflect daily on my setting, I record any actions in my Reflections Book.  I reflect using children's EYFS learning and development progress, support visit reports, discussion with other professionals and parents.  I review training offered and book myself on courses as required.

11: Who should I contact if I am considering registering for a place at the setting?

If you wish to contact me you can do so via telephone call or email.  The details are on my FIS page

12: What arrangements does the setting have for feedback from parents / carers, including compliments and complaints?

I have a comments and complaints books.  It contains comments from all parents with children currently at my setting,  There are not complaints recorded.
