We are a self-help organisation open to anyone no longer in full-time employment i.e. the third age, who wishes to keep the brain alive and the body active by taking part in a wide variety of educational, creative and leisure activities. Bracknell Forest U3A is a member of the Third Age Trust, a national registered charity and the representative body for the U3A movement in the UK providing support services to the regional U3As. Bracknell Forest U3A was formed in January 2001 at a public meeting of approximately 80 people and we currently have 530 members. We are financially independent and rely solely on our members' subscription for income - our 2017/18 annual subscription is just £11.00, less than £1 per month.The Committee members and Group Coordinators are all unpaid volunteers.
We currently support the following Interest Groups - American Songbook, Architecture, Art Appreciation, Art - Mixed Media, Art - Watercolour, Ballroom and Latin Dance, Barn Dance, Blues/Rock/Jazz, Book Group, Bridge, Chaps (men only), Computer Group, Computing Libre, Crafts, Current Affairs, Digital Photography, Family History, French Conversation, Gardening, German, Guitar for Beginners, History, Italian, Local History, Lunch Club, Mah Jong, MOTO (Members On Their Own), Music Appreciation (Classical), Music Appreciation (Modern), Music Makers, Needlecraft, Out and About, Philosophy, Recorder, Rummikub, Sailing, Science and Technology, Short Walks, Singing for Fun, Sketching, Spanish, Table Tennis, Times Out, Transport and a longer Walking Group.
Free to attend Open Meetings with guest speakers are held every 6 weeks at The Open Learning Centre and prospective members are welcome to attend.Our motto is LEARN, LAUGH, LIVE so why not come along, it could be a life changing experience!
