Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG)

The DFG is money given by central government to Local Authorities to assist disabled people to adapt their homes to meet their assessed needs arising from their disability.  The DFG is for substantial building work and will only be paid for work agreed in advance.  Conditions apply and adaptations to properties funded by a DFG do take time.  The start of the process is a referral to Children’s Social Care to check eligibility and refer to an Occupational Therapist.
