Local Offer Description

I am a childminder in Bracknell with a 3 bedroom house. The children play in the lounge, the dining room is used for meals and messy play, they also use the garden on a regular basis. Upstairs is used for nap times.

1: How does the setting identify children with additional needs or SEND?

The parents fill in a form, 'all about me' when the child starts. I carry out regular observations, discussions with parents, 2year checks. I gain permission from parents to discuss information with other professionals when needed.

2: How will I be informed / consulted about the ways in which my child is being supported?

Parents receive daily information about what their child has done, eaten etc. The children have learning journals which the parents take home to look at each term, this also tracks their progress and milestones.

3: How will the setting adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for my child's needs?

Each child will be set realistic targets appropriate to their age and development. Activities are planned to engage their interests and be fun and adapted for all ages and abilities. I offer one to one support.

4: What teaching strategies does the setting use for children with additional needs or learning difficulties?

I do not currently have any children with additional needs or learning difficulties, teaching strategies would reflect each individuals particular needs

5: What additional support does the setting provide for children with additional needs or SEND?

The setting will be adapted where possible, support will be given to the best of my ability.

6: How will the setting monitor my child’s progress and how will I be involved in this?

Through their learning journal and regular discussion.

7: How do you ensure children with additional needs or SEND can be included in the same activities as other children, including trips?

Activities will adapted for everyone to take part in. Trips are planned to appropriate places for all children.

8: How accessible is the building for children with mobility difficulties / wheelchair users?

The house has small steps at front and back. Parents would be welcome to visit the house to access the suitability for their child and discuss with me and changes I may be able to make to make it more accessible.

9: How will you support my child’s transition to a new setting or school?

I offer settling in sessions, as many as the parents feel comfortable with. When a child starts I keep in regular contact with the parent to let them know how they are getting on.

10: How does the setting assess the overall effectiveness of its SEN provision and how can parents / carers take part in this evaluation?

This would be done through feedback from parents.

11: Who should I contact if I am considering registering for a place at the setting?

Wendy Molloy

12: What arrangements does the setting have for feedback from parents / carers, including compliments and complaints?

I have a compliments and complaints book. Parents can comment in the back of their child's learning journal each term when it is taken home. I have references from parents, thank you cards etc.
