Funding available to support mainstream settings (Inclusion Fund)
Does this information need updating? The purpose of this fund is to improve access for children and young people with disabilities within a universal or mainstream setting. Children accessing these settings would typically require minimal supervision and have moderate learning difficulties and may need some initial support to build confidence. However, for some children additional support may be required on an ongoing basis.
This funding is accessed by the after school club or holiday scheme directly. Parents are required to discuss their child’s individual needs with a provider and if additional support is identified, the provider should contact the Short Breaks Service. Parents pay the sessional rate, as any parent, and the Short Breaks Service provides the funding for the additional staff and or resources required by the setting. This support can be provided for up to 1 day per week during the school holidays in line with our targeted provisions.
For children and young people with more complex needs or who require a higher level of support, where a mainstream setting is not appropriate, activities and holiday schemes are available predominantly through Kids.
