Conservation Volunteer

Practical conservation activities you can get involved with run by our Parks and Countryside Rangers or by getting in touch with local volunteer groups include:

• pond clearance, coppicing, hedge laying, scrub clearance and tree planting
• creating new wildlife features such as hedgerows and stag beetle loggeries
• improving access to the countryside by building and managing footpaths and footbridges
• helping local volunteer groups with office administration, running publicity stalls, raising funds and organising events
• surveying and monitoring wildlife and habitats

There are many reasons why people choose to volunteer:

• to gain skills/experience to change careers or get a job
• to support an issue that you or a member of your family have been affected by
• to gain confidence in returning to the workplace
• to improve confidence or self-esteem
• to give something back to your community
