Specially Resourced Provision in Bracknell Forest

Does this information need updating?

In Bracknell Forest we hope that all children and young people can be educated close to their home; in the vast majority of cases this will be in mainstream schools but we want to provide more specialist provision locally as well.

Over the past few years there has been an increase in demand for specialist educational placements for pupils with Communication and Interaction needs, particularly autism. In order to address this demand Bracknell Forest Council, in partnership with local schools, has developed primary-phase provision for pupils with communication and interaction difficulties.

Specially Resourced Provisions (SRPs) are for children who have, or who are likely to have, an EHCP (Education, Health & Care Plan). Usually pupils are admitted in Reception or Year 1 but sometimes a child’s needs will not become apparent until later, so some SRPs can admit older pupils too. Admissions to any of the SRPs will follow Bracknell Forest’s usual admissions procedure and requests should be made to the SEN Team.

Parents told us about the sort of provision they would like to see and the expertise they expect from staff, and that has been included in the development of the new provisions. You can find out what they said, and what we did here SRP You Said- We Did

Our local primary schools, along with their Governing Bodies, have worked hard to develop new provision to help us meet the needs of more pupils within the borough. The Specially Resourced Provision - September 2023 list shows the school, the specialism they have in their specially resourced provision and the number of places available and the number of places they have available in September 2023.

What are the main differences between a Specially Resourced Provision and a SEN Unit?

How to secure a placement at an SRP/Specialist Provision

We are now looking at how we will develop secondary-phase provision across the borough so that we have a good range of options for all pupils in Year 7 and above.
